Puyallup holiday events pack most of their weight into three December weeks, and one Saturday carries more than the rest combined. On December 5, 2026, the Holiday Market fills the Pioneer Park Pavilion, the lighted Santa Parade comes down Meridian, the community tree is lit, and two separate holiday shows are running at the fairgrounds. If you are thinking about buying here, that is a useful day to see the town.
I checked every date below with the organizer or the City of Puyallup's own calendar in early November. You will find the full December lineup, what each one costs, what December 5 does to downtown streets, and the seasonal events that fill the rest of Puyallup's year. I also cover how I use these events when a buyer is weighing a house near downtown or the fairgrounds.

Puyallup Holiday Events on the 2026 Calendar
Two groups put on most of the season. The Washington State Fair Event Center hosts the ticketed shows on the fairgrounds at 110 9th Ave SW. The Puyallup Main Street Association runs the downtown market and parade, and the city's Parks and Recreation department adds the smaller Santa events. Here is how December lines up, taken from the City of Puyallup events calendar and each organizer's page.
| Date | Event | Where | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thu-Sun, Dec. 3-6 | Victorian Christmas Festival | Fair Event Center, Gold or Blue gates | 10 a.m.-8 p.m. |
| Fri, Dec. 4 | Santa Paws Pet Photos | Puyallup Activity Center, 210 W Pioneer | 10 a.m.-7 p.m. |
| Dec. 4-6, 11-13, 18-23 | Holiday Magic | Fair Event Center, Green Gate | 4:30-9:30 p.m. |
| Sat, Dec. 5 | Holiday Market | Pioneer Park Pavilion | Noon-7 p.m. |
| Sat, Dec. 5 | Lighted Santa Parade | Downtown, along Meridian | Starts 5 p.m. |
| Sat, Dec. 5 | Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony | 330 S Meridian | 6:30-7:30 p.m. |
| Fri, Dec. 11 | Pictures with Santa | Pioneer Park Pavilion | Half-hour sessions, 4-7:30 p.m. |
| Sat, Dec. 12 | Breakfast with Santa | 330 S Meridian | 9:30-11 a.m. |
Pictures with Santa uses sign-up sessions through the city's recreation registration system, so book a slot instead of showing up. Organizers adjust details close to the date, and the Main Street Association says to watch its Facebook page and website for changes.
December 5 Is the Busiest Day of Puyallup Holiday Events
Five things overlap on one Saturday. The Holiday Market opens at noon. The Victorian Christmas Festival runs until 8 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Holiday Magic opens its gates at 4:30. The parade steps off at 5, and the tree lighting follows at 6:30. All of it sits in or next to downtown.
The parade's own staging instructions show where the pressure lands. Floats and other oversize vehicles line up on Meridian between Stewart Avenue and Main Avenue. Other units stage on East Main and West Main, and walking groups gather in the Sound Transit lot south of the railroad tracks. Many entries drive over from Sumner's parade earlier in the day by way of East Main. The first unit crosses the starting line at 5 p.m., the last should cross by 6, and each unit takes about 20 minutes to cover the route, so plan for Meridian to be closed to through traffic for much of the early evening.
What December 5 Means if You Are House Hunting
If you want to tour homes that day, I book the showings in the morning or outside the downtown core, then let buyers stay for the parade if they like. Buyers who are seriously considering a house within walking distance of Pioneer Park should see it on the evening of December 5. You will learn where parade-goers park, how long it takes to get out of your street, and whether the noise reaches your block. Anyone who has read my Puyallup fair district guide will know the idea: it is a smaller, one-night version of the September fair traffic.
Holiday Magic at the Fairgrounds: Tickets, Hours and Parking
Holiday Magic is the longest-running of the season's Puyallup holiday events, at 12 evenings: December 4-6, 11-13 and 18-23, 2026, 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. every night. According to the event details page, it began in 2020 as a drive-through light show. It now fills the Washington State Fair Event Center with lights, rides that are included with admission, a holiday market of more than 25 local vendors, Santa photos and a synthetic-ice skating rink.
Tickets are sold for a specific date. On the tickets page, online prices are $25 for ages 13 and up and $20 for ages 3 to 12; children 2 and under get in free. Buying at the gate costs $2.50 more. A $45 Platinum ticket works on any night and adds a heated lounge and $15 in food and drink credit. Skating is a $10 add-on online. Military admission is $20 every Friday. Onsite ticket sales end at 8:30 p.m.
Parking for Holiday Magic is free, which is a real change from September. The fair's parking page sends visitors to the Green Lot and Green Gate on the west side of the grounds, with the Blue Lot and Blue Gate also open. Those are the same lots that fill during the fair, so homes near them see some evening traffic on Holiday Magic nights too, just less of it.
Wondering How a House Feels on Event Nights?
Send me the address. I will tell you which event lots and staging streets sit near it, and we can plan a showing around the December calendar so you see the block on a busy night and a quiet one.
Ask Clif About an AddressDowntown Puyallup Holiday Events at Pioneer Park
The downtown side of the season centers on Pioneer Park. The Holiday Market is the Puyallup Farmers' Market's one-day winter event: 68 vendors, many of them regulars from the summer market, inside the Pioneer Park Pavilion from noon to 7 p.m. on December 5. Hot food is served in two places, near the Pavilion all day and on Elm Street from 3 to 7 p.m. for the parade crowd. The market's interactive vendor map goes live at the end of November.
The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony follows the parade that evening at 330 S Meridian, the Pioneer Park address. The following weekend brings smaller city-run events: Pictures with Santa at the Pavilion on December 11, and Breakfast with Santa at the same address on the morning of December 12. On December 4, the Puyallup Activity Center at 210 W Pioneer hosts Santa Paws pet photos.
These events are a good way to see the downtown blocks the way residents use them. After the market, walk a few streets in each direction. My guide to downtown Puyallup restaurants and shops covers what stays open year-round.
The Victorian Christmas Festival
The Victorian Christmas Festival is a large holiday shopping show produced by Marketplace Events, running December 3-6, 2026 at the fair event center. The city calendar lists it from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with entry at the Gold or Blue gates. It is ticketed, so check the show's site for prices. On December 5 its hours overlap with both the parade and the opening of Holiday Magic.
Puyallup Seasonal Events Through the Rest of the Year
December is the busiest month for Puyallup holiday events, but the town runs on a year-round calendar, and most of it centers on the same two places: Pioneer Park and the fairgrounds.
- Puyallup Farmers' Market: Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Pioneer Park and Pavilion. The 2026 season ran April 18 to October 10.
- Spring Fair: April 9-11 and 16-18, 2027, at the fairgrounds.
- Washington State Fair: the 2026 fair ran September 4-27, closed Tuesdays and September 9.
- Oktoberfest Northwest: ran October 9-11, 2026, at the fairgrounds.
- Downtown trick-or-treat: October 31, 2026, 3 to 5 p.m., run by the Main Street Association.
- Other Main Street signature events: Meeker Days, Sip Puyallup and Puyallup Nashville Nights. Check the association's calendar for 2027 dates.
If you are moving here, plan your moving truck around this calendar. Fair weeks and December 5 are the two windows I would avoid near downtown, as my Puyallup relocation guide explains.
Using Puyallup Holiday Events to Test a Neighborhood
A December visit shows a house in the conditions the listing photos skip: early darkness, rain and holiday traffic. Here is how I use the season with buyers.
- Visit after dark. Holiday Magic and the parade are evening events. Check street lighting, how far you would walk from parking to the front door, and how the drive in feels at 5 p.m.
- Watch the water. A rainy December weekend shows you gutters, downspouts and yard drainage. My Puyallup home inspection guide lists what to look for on older homes near downtown.
- Time the commute. Drive the route to work on a weekday evening when Holiday Magic is open. The Puyallup commuter guide covers Sounder and the main roads.
- Do your own research on the area. I don't rank neighborhoods, but my guide to researching Puyallup neighborhood data shows where to look things up yourself.
As for the market itself, the most recent Redfin figures I checked, for the three months ending September 2026, put the City of Puyallup median sale price at $534,720, down 10.4% from a year earlier, with a median of 31 days on market. Those numbers move every month, so I pull fresh ones before we write an offer.
Puyallup Holiday Events: Questions I Hear Most
The lighted Santa Parade is Saturday, December 5, 2026, starting at 5 p.m. in downtown Puyallup along Meridian. The Puyallup Main Street Association holds it on the first Saturday in December. The last parade unit should cross the starting line by 6 p.m.
Holiday Magic runs December 4-6, 11-13 and 18-23, 2026, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Washington State Fair Event Center. Date-specific tickets are $25 online for ages 13 and up and $20 for ages 3 to 12, with children 2 and under free. Gate prices are $2.50 higher.
Yes. The fair says parking for Holiday Magic is free. The main lot and entrance are the Green Lot and Green Gate on the west side of the grounds, and the Blue Lot and Blue Gate are open during all event hours.
The Holiday Market is inside the Pioneer Park Pavilion in downtown Puyallup on Saturday, December 5, 2026, from noon to 7 p.m. The Puyallup Farmers' Market lists 68 vendors, with hot food near the Pavilion all day and on Elm Street from 3 to 7 p.m.
The Victorian Christmas Festival runs December 3-6, 2026 at the Washington State Fair Event Center. The City of Puyallup calendar lists hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with entry at the Gold or Blue gates. It is a ticketed shopping show.
It can be a useful one. You see a house in the dark and the rain, and you can watch how a downtown block handles parade and Holiday Magic traffic. On December 5 I book showings in the morning or away from downtown, because Meridian is closed for the parade in the early evening.
Find Your Place Near Puyallup's Holiday Events
Some buyers want to walk to the tree lighting, and others want to be a short drive from it and well clear of the parade route. Both are reasonable choices. Puyallup holiday events make the trade-off easy to see, because the whole town shows up in the same few blocks on the same night. The Pierce County hub lists every community guide I have written.
